Applications for Locum Consultants in Anaesthesia

We are looking for two Locum Consultants to join the Anaesthetics team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust based at Charing Cross and St Mary’s Hospitals.


Charing Cross Hospital has a large head and neck/airway service, a significant neurosurgical department with an expanding interventional neuroradiology service, ENT, major urology, as well as extensive upper and lower limb orthopaedic surgery. It is the main centre for elective surgery within the Trust.

St Mary’s Hospital is the regional trauma centre for North-West London and has a wide case mix including vascular surgery, bariatric surgery, paediatric surgery, general surgery, ENT and urology.


The jobs are paid as 10 PA’s per week, 9.0 DCC and 1.0 SPA. The successful applicants may be required to join a 1:9 on-call rota at Charing Cross Hospital, or a 1:10 on-call rota at St Mary’s Hospital. There is also the opportunity to agree a single site or a cross-site job plan depending on the candidate’s interests.

Applications for Locum Consultant in Paediatric Anaesthesia.

We are seeking to recruit one full time fixed term Locum Consultant to the anaesthetic team at Imperial College Hospital NHS Trust based at St Mary’s Hospital. St Mary’s Hospital is a leading Major Trauma Centre situated in London that treats in excess of 2,500 adult and paediatric trauma patients per year from diverse backgrounds.


The successful applicant will gain experience in a wide variety of specialties and every effort will be made to tailor that experience to their specialist interest. Experience in Paediatric Anaesthesia is essential and major trauma, vascular and general surgery or ophthalmology highly desirable. The successful applicants may join a 1:10 general on-call rota. The job is paid as 10 PA’s per week, 9 DCC and 1 SPA.

The post is for 12 months initially and is available to start immediately if possible. Successful candidates may also be invited to remain in post for a further 6 to 12 months.

Senior Clinical Fellowships

We offer 6 or 12 month Clinical Fellowships in Trauma, Regional, Vascular, Bariatric and/or Upper GI anaesthesia based at St Mary's. These posts are suitable for anaesthetists with FRCA or equivalent qualification.

St Mary's is a Major Trauma Centre, a tertiary referral centre for Vascular surgery & has a well established Bariatric unit performing 600-750 Bariatric surgeries per year.

The fellowships have dedicated non-clinical time and include a 1:8 on-call commitment. Previous fellows have completed research projects, contributed to national guidelines & gone onto gain substantive consultant posts.
